On behalf of our client based in Sherburn near Scarbourgh we are looking to recruit a logistic operative with straddle crane experience. This will be to fulfil a 56 week contract.  

Main Purpose of Role
To take direction from the Logistics Team Leader to safely load and unload vehicles and move materials around the factory and site.

  • Key Tasks

  • Remove steel packs from the lines and storing in the yard / loading on trailers for transport to site
  • Safely unload delivery vehicles of materials and goods and place same in allotted storage locations
  • Move trailers safely around the site using the shunters
  • Using the Fork Lift Truck for movement of raw materials / finished product as directed
  • Working to production deadlines

Provide cover for other team members and complete any other reasonable task as requested by Management or colleague.

  • Health & Safety  Responsibilities

Specific Health and Safety responsibilities and duties for all operatives driven down from the Company Health and Safety Policy are:

  • Ensure familiarity and working compliance with all related Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures and Company Policies for each and every activity completed by yourself and others working around you.
  • Make proper use of appropriate personal protective equipment items as made available.
  • Ensure that safe access is provided and maintained at all times by unobstructed gangways, stairs, doorways and fire exits.
  • Review the workshop on a regular basis to ensure H&S compliance and good housekeeping is being achieved and maintained. Take appropriate actions to make improvements as required.
  • Complete all tasks and instructions with the highest regard to the safety of themselves and all others at all times.
  • Ensure that all daily and weekly before use checks are completed in accordance with the laid down requirements for each and every item of plant or equipment before its use.
  • Assist in the investigation of any accidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and
  • potential hazards that should occur and report to management any actions needing to be taken to make safe, or prevent re-occurrence of the incident.

Knowledge and experience 
  • Job holder should be able to demonstrate capability and competence based on experience in similar roles
  • Experience of using Side loaders / Fork Lift trucks
  • Qualified by experience
  • Previous experience of using a Straddle Crane is essential
Academic and Professional Qualification
  • Experience of using a Shunter or hold a Class 1 HGV license driving
