I am delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Severfield plc, the UK’s largest Structural Steel company. Established for more than forty years, they employ in excess of 1400 people across the UK and have been involved in some of this century’s most iconic engineering/construction projects – including The Shard, The Olympic Stadium and The Emirates Stadium.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an influential and inspiring Maintenance Manager to join an award-winning organisation at an exciting time in their continued growth and development.
The Role
The primary role of the Maintenance Manager is to provide maintenance support to all production functions, ensuring that the factory plant and equipment is maintained and repaired to an adequate and safe standard, enabling the efficiency and continuity of production activities.
You will oversee a team of Maintenance Operatives who are involved in the maintenance and repair of plant and machinery, including major plant/electrical and portable equipment. You will carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment to assess maintenance requirements and/or identify any repairs, maintaining accurate records of inspections.
Additionally, you will conduct regular reviews of ongoing maintenance activities across the site and propose improvement initiatives to achieve increased equipment performance and/or reduced maintenance costs. This will include assessing the timescale and cost of any repairs, taking into consideration important factors such as machinery down time, safety on the shop floor and availability of contractors.
Using your technical knowledge and experience, you will also obtain competitive quotes and lead times for any parts, items or tools required to enable the replacement, repair or service of plant, buildings or equipment from approved suppliers/contractors, ensuring that improvements to fixed installations or portable electrical equipment are completed in accordance with all relevant statutory regulations.
About You
You are a qualified and apprentice-trained Electrical Engineer who has previous experience at Supervisory or Managerial level within a structural engineering environment.
You should be qualified to HNC within Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and also hold relevant trade/operational qualifications. Formal training within Health and Safety (such as IOSH ‘Managing Safely’) would be advantageous.
Prior experience of maintaining electrical and mechanical plant/machinery within a factory or workshop environment is essential.
